Great question. Today, for the first time ever, I'm going to answer it properly — by introducing The Dirty Dog Farm Proprietary Philosophy of Beef Greatness.

Beef is obviously not a new product. Grass-fed beef is a niche, sure, but it's not exactly unheard of. When you're in an industry that's existed since the first person clubbed an Aurochs to death, your competitors tend to get very set in their ways.

So our basic strategy is: look around the industry, see what everyone else is doing, ask "what can we do better?"..... and then just do that.

B — Beef Quality

A lot of farms like to focus only on being regenerative, not using chemicals, etc. — while ignoring the quality of the actual beef. We think being regenerative is table steaks 😉. Not poisoning your customers is Checkbox #1. Would you buy a terrible car just because it won't spontaneously combust? No you wouldn't.

(And as the recent Supreme Court Bayer-Monsanto ruling made painfully clear, you can't count on the government to keep poisons out of your food. So it falls on the farms.)

Customer service is a dying art in every industry (no, I don't want to connect with your AI agent who cannot remotely answer my question). But the meat industry is especially rough. Obviously grocery stores and big meatpackers couldn't care less about their customers. But even the new wave of online meat companies seems... disinterested. They want to lock you into subscriptions and auto-charge you forever.

E — Easy

Our specific niche is bulk beef — half and whole cows. Traditionally, this is kind of a pain. You coordinate with a farmer and possibly a butcher separately. You find out how much beef you're getting at the last minute. You pick up at the farm, butcher, or maybe a vaguely convenient drop site.
