Today was SUPPOSED to be an orderly Monday.

Jackson is back from vacation (rejoice!), which means I am officially retired, again, as interim Packing Czar, and can ride off into the sunset (aka back to the 143-item to-do list I've been ignoring for a week).

My Monday plan was beautiful in its simplicity....

Then the universe had other ideas.....

The liner truck ambush

At 6:57am, my wife, Amelia, tells me that there is a tractor trailer outside. The liners had arrived. Just over two hours early.

I was, truth be told, in my underwear. So I had to get dressed, direct the driver to the right spot, and get him unloaded solo.

Long-time readers may remember this is not my first liner-truck ambush. Last summer a full shipping container of liners showed up SIX hours early, with no pallet jack on the truck, and I spent that morning shoving 25 pallets around by hand like a human pallet jack.

Liner trucks apparently smell my moments of weakness.

This was annoying, but fine. These days we own a pallet jack and the driver was down to help me out. Liners received, crisis one contained, and technically we were even ahead of schedule (by virtue of starting a couple hours early).

I had earned a coffee.

Then the bulls escaped

Which is exactly when I got a text.......

Our 3 bulls had let themselves out of their paddock and were hanging out on the neighbor's lawn.

Not causing trouble thankfully. Just chilling.

So Jesse and I dropped everything to run over there and return them to their correct location.

And somewhere around 11am I was able to get started on my chill morning of catching up.

This isn't exactly unusual on a farm. Crazy animal stuff, unpredictable weather, "we have half the number of people we need to do everything on today's list" fire drills, etc. are all regular features.
